How to Properly use Cosmetic Lenses

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Cosmetic Surgeryit is increasingly frequent use of cosmetic lenses to complement the costumes, especially celebrations like Halloween. However, there are some risks if used without having been prescribed and adapted by an optometrist.

From the General Council of Colleges of Opticians-Optometrists warn that the consequences of inappropriate use include corneal hypoxia, which leads to problems of oxygenation of the cornea, allergic reactions, eye and corneal ulcers, which in turn increases the risk of eye infection.

Takes note of the golden rules for correct use:

1. Check if you are able to use contact lenses from the evaluation of a specialist.

2. Going to an optometrist to perform a custom fit of the lenses.

3. Follow all directions on the optometrist about the proper use and maintenance.

4. Buy only at specialized sites.

5. Wash and dry hands thoroughly before use.

6. Clean the lenses carefully and regularly, as directed by the expert, after each use.

7. Always keep in contact lens solutions and use only the maintenance prescribed by the optometrist.

8. Never reuse the solution to clean and store contact lenses.

9. Lenses should not use more hours than is recommended or beyond the date on which to dispose of. Nor should sleep with them.

10. Regular checkups are recommended if you decide to use them regularly.

Improve the Quality of Your Life with Laser Eye Surgery

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

People who have to wear glasses or contacts al the time to go about their daily activities can now undergo laser eye surgery in order to correct vision problems such as near sightedness, far sightedness, and astigmatism. Most people find that wearing glasses limits them in so many ways. Sports are difficult to play and in the rain, glasses fog up making it difficult to see.

Contacts are not much better, although they don’t fog up as much. Still, imagine hearing a bump in the night. Do you stumble to your contacts case, put in your contacts, then check if a burglar has broken into your home? Wouldn’t it be so much easier to just get up and be able to see clearly?

Laser eye surgery is popular because it provides an improvement in vision almost immediately. Many people no longer need their glasses or contacts and they are very glad they had the procedure done. It’s a low risk medical procedure and the recover time is minimal. People can drive again in about a week.

The cost of the surgery is high but so is buying new glasses or contacts. It’s great never to have to put out that money again. Losing a pair of eyeglasses or a contact is also expensive. The surgery is actually a bargain when you total all the money you have already put into improving your vision.
