For Confidentiality, Enter a Private Alcohol Rehab Clinic

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

The environment in which one undergoes treatment for alcohol addiction can have a significant impact on the results achieved. Long term sobriety can be achieved by an individual at any treatment center as long as the medical, psychological and social aspects of recovery are addressed. Certain individuals do better focusing on these aspects of recovery knowing their privacy is ensured at a secluded private alcohol rehab clinic.

An individual who has achieved some degree of notoriety in their profession or personal life has a greater need for confidentiality. Unless this confidentiality is implicit, the individual will spend time worrying about whether the other client recognize them or if the other clients will leak their presence at  rehab to the press.  At a private alcohol rehab clinic, this is not a concern, leaving individuals free to concentrate fully on their recovery.

A private alcohol rehab clinic is also more likely to have the facilities to make a person feel at home in the rehab environment, recovering among their peers. Therapies designed to mimic social settings, minus the alcohol, are more realistic, thus giving the recovering addict the tools they need to deal with these settings when they go back home. The more a rehab clinic resembles an individuals own home, the more likely they are to develop the strategies they need to achieve a lasting recovery. It’s easy to learn how to refuse a drink in a hospital setting, the trick is to learn how to refuse a drink in a setting that mimics a person’s typical social interactions.

Drug Rehabilitation comes in Many Forms

Saturday, December 4th, 2010

Drug rehabilitation is available in a wide array of treatment centers, some using the traditional 12 step approach, others are using a non 12 step program. However, many addicts and their families are confused as to which rehab method works best. The 12 step program has not been widely successful in treating drug addicts, although it has had better success for alcohol treatment.

As the 12 step program stresses a belief in a higher power, it is thought that more alcoholics have a basic belief in God, therefor they respond to the program better. After all, alcohol is socially acceptable, and church-going individuals may have turned to alcohol instead of illegal drugs to block out certain feelings.

Non 12 step drug rehab uses a more logical approach to treatment, which logical people are more apt to respond to. The non 12 step method focuses more on a cure, while the 12 step program focuses more on telling people they will always be in recovery.

Only a non 12 step program talks about a time when the addict is free of his or her addictions. There are also non 12 step programs which focus on alcohol treatment, and these have shown promise. Only be knowing the exact philosophy of each treatment center will an addict be able to make an informed choice about their recovery.

Does My Child Need Drug Rehabilitation?

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

It’s not a question many parents even want to say out loud. The thought of one’s child taking drugs is something most parents wish to avoid even considering. It is so much easier to believe that your child is immune to the influence of drugs. Living in a wealthy neighborhood, going to church with your child, even lecturing about the dangers of taking drugs does not guarantee that your child will stay away from drugs. Don’t let your child’s young age fool you. Teenagers are not the only children using illegal drugs and entering drug treatment programs.

If you believe your child may be taking drugs, find out for sure. It’s your home-look through their possessions and find out for sure. Drug abuse is extremely serious. It can devastate the lives of children quickly. Drug rehabilitation works best if you enroll your child before they are too deeply involved. Drug addicts are good at hiding their addictions, your child will not walk up to you and say “I need help”.

The longer a child remains addicted to drugs, the greater the chances they will be arrested, in a car accident, or something worse. Don’t let appearances keep you from seeing your children realistically. If they are doing drugs, find an appropriate program to get them off the drugs as soon as possible.
